Located within the area of Giant Hypermarket Section 13 Shah Alam, this small park is great for toddlers who are really appreciate this cute tiny creatures. Most toddlers love animals, right? With fee of RM3 per person, i think this place is good for a very short visit, especially for those who does not have pets at home, yet, the child love animals so much (i wonder if you can spend your money every week to go to zoo to watch the animals..heheh...). So, for me, this is one of the alternative. Mommies can also busying themselves shopping at Giant, while their kids enjoying themselves at the park with guardian, of course. I heard that this park also provides overnight place for rabbits, in case the owners wanna go outstation. Great hah!

Penang - Food Heaven

BOH Tea Plantation @ Cameron Highland, Pahang

Located at Cameron Highland, Pahang, BOH Tea Plantation offers another attraction for those who visit to this premier hill resort. Even though I had several times been in Cameron Highland, this is my first time there. I always stop at Cameron Bharat Tea Shop, to have some light refreshments before continue my journey to Brinchang. But this time, I had the chance to visit Boh Tea Plantation instead. The route to the plantation is quite challenging. But, once you reach the plantation, you may have some rest there, visit the factory to see the process of tea production, feel the calmness and beautiful scenery out of the tea plantation while tasting the great tea at the tea shop, and even shop some souveniours there. There’s so much variety of tea you can try (original, mint, herb…can’t remember all). I wish I can be there everyday…having my tea time with my love one there…Hot tea served with muffin, sandwiches, pie, cakes, yum..yum..yum...Can’t wait our the visit. Maybe to bring other family members together.

I wish I can visit the factory on that day, unfortunately, the factory was closed. So sad…huhuhu…and I wish I can climb the hill to see the larger view of the plantation from the top of the hill (look-point), but with my condition of 2+ months pregnant during that time, just can’t afford it. Even the journey to the BOH tea plantation (from the main road) had made me feel a bit dizzy…Hmm…but, it can be compensated with the great taste of BOH tea at the tea shop on that day.

As alternative, you can visit the Sungai Palas Boh Tea Centre, near Equatorial Hotel at Brinchang. That is my aim for the next visit to the Cameron Highland.

I can say it (Satay Hut) as one of attraction in Selangor. What’s so special about this place? We can simply find satay almost anyway in KL or other places. “Satay Hut”, a place to taste a “large size” satay. Before this, we have Sate Ria and Sate King in town, but now both businesses shut down already.

Here it comes another choice for satay lovers. Satay Hut…Located in Tanjong Karang, Selangor, nearby Tanjung Karang Hospital. Opened at 4.30 pm till 2.00 am. It is a worth place to come for satay lover. Even though the main attraction is the “plus-size” satay, there are also small / ordinary size satay there. In case some of your friends or family members don’t really like satay, Satay Hut also offer other menus such as Thai and Malay cruisine. I went there with my beloved husband. Just to try some meals at another “popular place to eat”. We tasted mee bandung there, hmm..not bad. It tasted great. We had ABC and watermelon juice too…may be we will try other menus in our next visits.

Especially for those who are already in Kuala Selangor, beside having seafood for dinner, may be you can try Satay Hut, as alternative. Just a few miles from Kuala Selangor, you’ll reach Tanjung Karang. You can see Satay Hut just beside the main road, near the Tanjung Karang Hospital. Make sure you come in the evening or night because Satay Hut is not available during lunch.

The MINES Resort City Tour @ The MINES Shopping Mall

My husband and I had great experience yesterday from the MINES Resort City Tour @ Mines Shopping Mall. Got the opportunity to enjoy the sightseeing cruise for almost 1 ½ hours. Just pay RM60 for two persons, you’ll be cruising from the MINES Cruise main jetty, to the water lift (new experience for us), and then down to the north lake. We saw Palace Beach and Spa Resort, it's really beautiful. Nearby the lake, we had fishfeeding. We can see so many fish in the lake. We had the cruise with another two families. Their children really enjoy the moment here.

After seeing the beautiful scenery from the golfclub, Palace Beach and Spa, several VIPs’ private bungalows, including our our former Prime Minister’s mansion, we headed to The Palace of the Golden Horses, the six-start hotel. according to the tour-guide, the rate for 1 night at the hotel is around RM600-RM700. So expensive...But, I'm sure the service and facilities are superb...six-star...Then we made a U-turn, to continue our journey to the south lake. More VIPs’ mansions and apartments by the lakeside can be seen from the south lake tour. Not much interesting things explored from the South lake tour.

"Pekan Rabu" or Wednesday Market @ Alor Setar, Kedah

Every time I went back to my hometown at Perlis, I must visit this place, Pekan Rabu. This is one of the popular places in Kedah. Pekan Rabu is located at the centre of Alor Setar town. The place is well known for their traditional items such as foods, clothes, etc. and is very popular among both local people and also tourists from all over the countries.

Traditional foods (Kuih tradisional) such as dodol, kuih karas, peneram, bahulu, etc. are among the hot items sold here. With the new business complexes built surrounding the Pekan Rabu, the variety of items sold increased. Now, there are plenty of shops selling different kind of textiles, tudung, songkok, traditional clothes such as baju kurung and baju melayu. It’s more or less like Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman, Kuala Lumpur, which is also known as the Heaven of Textiles.

So, now, people who live nearby, for example, Perlis and Penang, they may choose to go to Kuala Lumpur or just shop at Alor Setar, which is nearer to their places.

Pekan Rabu will become more busy during public holidays, festive seasons such Hari Raya Puasa and Hari Raya, and weekends. You can see that many outsiders, from other states went back to their hometown, and shop their things at Pekan Rabu. This is the place where they come to get their materials for the preparation for Hari Raya.

Trishaw Ride Around the City of Malacca

Trishaw Ride? I love it so much!

Suddenly, I feel like I wanna have a ride on a trishaw. So, my husband took me to the City of Malacca on the Chinese New Year Holiday. Wow, there were so many people in town. Most of them are tourists. Our first destination was the Maritim Museum, which I had written about it before. Then, we had a tour on a trishaw. Tour around the City of Malacca. What is so special about the trishaw ride at Malacca? Here, you can see many beautifully decorated trishaw with different theme. Just choose which one you like the most. The tour become more meaningful when the trishaw ride includes a tour guide given by the trishaw’s owner. They were all well-trained by a tourism body to deliver the tour guide to the tourists.

We were brought to the Ethnics Museum, Dataran Pahlawan, Kota A Famosa, etc. What a wonderful moment I had on that day. With the beautiful decorated trishaw, riding with your loved one…you’ll feel really great! I wish I can be there again in the future.

Of course there are many other places of attraction around Malacca, but we straight away go to the city because we want to have our lunch at Umbai after that. As usual, love the “Ikan Bakar @ Umbai” grilled fish together with other seafood such as prawns, crabs and cuttlefish. The sea foods here are fresh…and delicious…and one more thing, the price is also reasonable as compared to seafood in KL.

Due to heavy traffic on that day, we didn’t have enough time to go to Mini Asian, Malacca Zoo, Crocodile Park, etc. Even though I had already been there a few years back, still wanna see if there is a change or new attraction available at those places. Hope we’ll find some other time to go there.

Malaysian International Batik Festival

I brought my family to Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC) last weekend for sight-seeing, shopping and lunch. They just came from Kangar, Perlis last week. And KLCC is always be one of the must visit places for my niece and nephews. They really enjoy sight-seeing and playing at the KLCC park. For the adults like my MIL and FIL, I think they just need some relaxing moments spent in KL, other than Kangar, Perlis. And not to forget my SIL, she’s busy with her shopping…My husband and I have to become the driver of the day…Heheh…

When we reach KLCC at about 11 am on Saturday, we straight away go to the KLCC park. On the way there, we saw a stage with a backdrop written “Malaysian International Batik Festival”. There you go…My niece and nephew were so excited to watch the demonstration held at several booth at the festival.

What make they became more excited is where they’ve got the opportunity to try themselves producing their own batik print. After received the batik chop from the first booth, they went to the second booth to color the batik design. Once completed, they can kept their works. Maybe it’s good to frame the batik design and hang them on the wall…

At the festival, there have been many interesting activities held, which much of the focus has been given to promote Malaysian batik to international level. I can see many tourists and foreigners experienced themselves on batik-making process. Detail explanation has been given by the demonstrators on the step-by-step process of making batik. It was really fun, yet informational.

I’m sure there will be more activities coming up in conjunction with the Malaysian International Batik Festival.Don’t forget to watch for more events. My family cannot really visit every booth on that day, as we had spent too much time waiting for the kids coloring their batik. After finished with the coloring, we had our lunch at Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC). Need to go earlier, otherwise it will become fullhouse. Really enjoyed ourselves at the festival.

Good Bargain @ Padang Besar

Padang Besar, which is located in Perlis, is a border town between Malaysia-Thailand. Padang Besar is a popular place for shopping, particularly items from Thailands. Shoppers can purchase variety of items (e.g. leather goods, accessories, households items, groceries, clothings, snacks, etc.) that came from Malaysia and Thailand at a bargain price. A duty free shop is also available at Padang Besar. I will not miss to visit Padang Besar, every time I went back to my home town.
Padang Besar is not only an attraction for local and international travellers, but also business owners. Some of business owners get their supplies from Padang Besar, and sell the items to end customers at affordable price. So, those who don’t have the opportunity to visit Padang Besar, but would like to buy something from here, they can get it from the business owners. That’s why we can see nowadays, most products available at Padang Besar are also available at other places. But, may be it is sold at higher price.

In my opinion, Padang Besar is more popular among the ladies, compared to men. This is because, sometime I can see several grouped trip arranged at own cost, to go to Padang Besar for just 1-2 days, and most interesting things, they are all ladies. The main purpose is just to “shop” at Padang Besar. Of course there are several places nearby Perlis that are very popular for shopping too, for example Wang Kelian and Bukit Kayu Hitam. These places are just border of Thailand. Look for forthcoming entries on these two places in near future.

Padang Besar is also synonym with Rantau Panjang, which is located in Kelantan. The shopping experience that one may have in these two places is very similar. I can see many tourists spend their money to buy households items such as comforters, home decors, towels, etc. While the children love to go there because there’s a lot of toy, teddy bear, snacks that they could have at Padang Besar. The man, may be they can shop their casual clothing and enjoy the fresh coconut drinks with Thai meals at the food courts.

Although most of Padang Besar items can be made available at many other places, the popularity of this place remains especially during festive seasons and school and public holidays. Many people who visited Perlis should not miss the opportunity to visit Padang Besar, a must-place to be visited in Perlis.

Putrajaya Flower & Garden Festival 2007 - Floria

Last Saturday, my husband and I went to visit the Putrajaya Flower and Garden Festival 2007 (Floria Putrajaya), which is held at Precint 2, Putrajaya for about 1 week. It’s still not too late if you wanna go there. We went there on the 25th August, the very first day of the event. After we had our breakfast at TTDI Jaya, we straight away go to Putrajaya. My husband was really excited to watch the event. He said that he wanna apply the photography knowledge that he got from the Internet. Let’s see…

It’s already 11.30 am when we reach the venue. It’s quite late actually…matahari pun dah naik…the weather is getting hot (cair le puteri lilin ni, paling tidak pun sunburn). With the theme of “Splash of Colour”, visitors will be enthralled by a spectacle of every imaginable colour of rainbow being displayed in all its glory throughout the festive setting.

We visited the “Merdeka Garden”, a special garden designed in conjunction with the 50th Anniversary Celebration. This garden features as the entrance garden that aimed to be an inspirational masterpiece. Next, we entered the “Floral Pavilion” that exhibit floral masterpieces by both the international and local designers. Each garden is segmented into several sections (Special Gardens, Floral Windows, Flower Power, Floral Sculpture, Floral Fashion, Tutti-Frutti, Fine Dining and Floral Arrangement), so that visitors can really appreciate the beauty and feel the differences between sections.

Not enough with the indoor garden, an outdoor garden showcase consists of the Floria Showcase gardens with the theme “Rainbow Serenade”, Orchid Precinct, Garden Square and Bazaar, etc. While watching the beautiful scenery surrounds the exhibition area, you can also buy souvenirs such as “kain batik”, plants, cupcakes, and a lot more.

For both of us, this event is definitely an event worth visiting. We thought that we had to pay the entrance fees, but you know what?!!...It’s free…No need to pay anything to enter the festival…The parking is also FOC.

Wow, definitely the 50th Malaysian Independent’s Day celebration will become another remarkable event for Malaysian. I can see there are so many activities take places in conjunction with this memorable event. Looking forwards to see the firework performance…and may be the Merdeka Parade…

Every Kind of Fun @ A’Famosa Resort, Malacca

The A’Famosa Animal World Safari in Alor Gajah, Malacca, is definitely the place to take the family for loads of wholesome fun and adventure. Thinking that it was just a hyped up version of a zoo, the writer was not too keen to visit the park and having to bake under the sun simply to see some animals lazing around in their cages. But golly, she could not have been more wrong…

Blurry-eyed after having nodded off during the 45-minute bus ride from the Century Mahkota Hotel in Malacca, I was pleasantly greeted at the entrance by the park’s management staff, Minah the baby orang utan and three elephants. It was love at first sight with the adorable Minah. However no amount of cajoling would allow me to carry her as she had her heart set on one of the guys in our group. Poor me had to contend with Minah plastering a kiss on my cheek as I bade her adios and ventured into the “wilderness” constituting the Animal World Safari. There is definitely “so much” to explore.

The safari walk through the landscaped park offers visitors the opportunity to touch and feed the mild animals like deer, ducks and rabbits, ride the camels and ostriches, and milk the cows. We were ushered off to catch the very entertaining multi-animal show which evoked shrieks of delight not just from the children but adults as well. The show featured orang utans golfing and weightlifting, dogs doing tricks and a monkey diving into a pool, among others. Visitors were allowed to snap photographs with some of the animals like the Albino python after the show.

Next was the excellent elephant performance which is at par, if not better, than the shows in Thailand. The gigantic beasts enthralled the crowd with their intelligence and graceful beauty. Animal World Safari also boasts a bird show and the Wild Wild West cowboy stunt show which is similar to the one at Universal Studio in Orlando, Florida.

Get ready to embark on your African safari with the heart-lurching truck ride which will take you into the predator zone of the majestic lions and tigers, an African “game reserve” and a crocodile pond. Our group was greeted by a lioness doing her “business” as we entered her den. She was however unperturbed with our presence and instead stared curiously at this bunch of gawking trespassers. The reserve was like a real African safari with animals like zebras, giraffes, camels and antelopes roaming freely in a vast expanse of land sparsely dotted with trees and shrubs. You can almost reach out and touch the animals had it not been for the “fenced-up” truck. The park aims to create awareness on wildlife conservation.

Animal World Safari is also equipped with comfortable rest stops, camping and picnic sites, and stalls serving a variety of food. There is also a high-tech farmhouse hatchery, nutrition workshops, animal rides, animal petting houses and a river cruise to the monkey island where you get to meet various species of monkeys.

Animal World Safari is just one of the many attractions in the self-contained A’Famosa Resort that also boasts one of the most beautiful golf courses in the world and the biggest water theme park in the country. The international class, 27-hole golf course is a paradise surrounded by breathtaking scenery. The natural hilly contours provide a great challenge for golfers. The nine holetracts - Rocky course, Palm course and Crocodile course with live crocodiles were created by Australian golf course architect Ross C.Watson. The greens are from Bermuda Titwarf while the fairway is landscaped in Bermuda Greenless Park. Need a shopping therapy? Good news to all shopperholics! Malaysia Mega Sale Carnival is back! Most departmental stores throughout Malaysia promise a bigger sale this year as Malaysia is celebrating its 50^th year of Independence. More discounts and promotion…The period of the carnival is longer than before (16th June till 2nd September 2007). This is a very good time for shopping. I’m sure most popular shopping complexes throughout Malaysia are full, especially during weekends. In Klang Valley itself, we have One Utama Shopping Centre (Bandar Utama), Mid Valley Megamall (Kuala Lumpur) and KLCC (Kuala Lumpur), as among main attractions for shopperholics.

The Mega Sale Carnival is an annual event for Malaysia. Normally, this is the best time for both Malaysian and visitors (foreigners) to go for shopping. This is because you can get the same thing in Malaysia at lower price. So, now I have to find my time to shop @ Malaysia Mega Sale Carnival.

Catch Your Own Fish @ Restoran Sangkar Ikan, Langkawi

Fish Cage Restaurant (Restoran Sangkar Ikan), Langkawi... I didn’t notice the existence of this restaurant till my last visit to Langkawi Island last year. Maybe the restaurant has been there since long ago…I’m not sure about that (Sorry, forgot to ask the restaurant’s staff. I was so excited to see the fresh meal ordered on my table. Hehe…).

I saw a long floating wooden bridge built on the crystal clear blue water when the ferry that I took from Kuala Perlis Jetty (Jeti Kuala Perlis) reached near to the Kuah Jetty (Jeti Kuah). Wow, what’s that? The beautiful scenery from the ferry really attracted me to go there.

So, once my husband and I got our rented car at Kuah Jetty, we straight away go to the Restoran Sangkar Ikan. The place located near Kuah Town (Pekan Kuah). But, you have to take the small road behind the town to reach the restaurant. You won’t miss the restaurant because there are a few signage to guide you to the Restoran Sangkar Ikan.

It was raining when we arrived at the Restoran Sangkar Ikan. The staff gave us an umbrella so that we can still go to the fish breeding area (Sangkar Ikan, which is located about 1 km from the beach) even though it was raining.

It takes about 10 minutes walking (on long floating wooden bridge) before you can see the fish cage. We really love and enjoy the fresh air and beautiful scenery along the way to the fish cage. What a great experience for both of us! We managed to capture a few beautiful pictures along the way to the fish cage. Unfortunately, some of them are blur because the floating wooden bridge shaking, following the wave of the sea. You have to be more careful if you bring children with you.

When you reach at the fish cage, you can see most of workers there are busy with their works (feed, catch and transfer the fishes, clean up their boats, etc.). You can catch your own fish here…fresh from the cage. Exciting hah?

Once you’ve got the fish or other preferred seafood, you can ask the workers at the restaurant to cook them for your lunch or dinner. We had a great dinner there. Hope that we can bring the whole family to eat here. It’s a seafood restaurant. So, you can have your seafood meals such as tom yam, sweet sour fish, crab, or any other available recipes. Taste it, and you’ll love it….

Take a Walk into the Cave of Darkness (Gua Kelam)

My first experience to explore the Dark Cave was in 2001 (soon after I married to my beloved hubby). “Gua Kelam”, which means the Cave of Darkness, is among the tourists’ favourite places in Perlis. The cave is located at Kaki Bukit Village, nearby Wang Kelian. This place is popular for its enchanting “cave walk” where you can enter from one end of the cave and come out at a different end.

With RM1 entrance fee for adults, we start a walk into the cave. The only path into the cave is via a suspension wooden bridge, which made of a wide wooden walkway. Even though the walkway is generally well kept, please be careful while walking along the walkway. (maybe the wood is not that strong, who knows…)

The wooden bridge links Kaki Bukit to the Wang Tangga Valley, a valley on the opposite end of Gua Kelam. I tried to capture several pictures while I was in the cave. But, unfortunately, the pictures were all blur… as the walkway vibrates while I capture the pictures. If you’re patient, you can wait until the walkway is empty to take your pictures. It’s really nice if you have a “good” camera. You can capture “good” picture even though the lighting is not that good.

There’s not much different from the first time I went there…and today. But, many tourists and local people love to go there. Some of them like to explore the beauty and uniqueness of the cave, while others love to spend time with their families by picnicking at the recreational park.

Mid Valley Megamall, Kuala Lumpur

Mid Valley Megamall, a huge shopping complex located at the heart of Kuala Lumpur, has become a central of attraction among visitors. Whether weekdays or weekend, this shopping complex will be full of people. The traffic around this area will always be congested with both public and private transports.

You can choose to travel by bus, taxi, LRT or your own car in order to arrive at Mid Valley Megamall. But, for me the easiest way to come here is by taking the KTM commuters. Thanks to Kak Su, the first person who advice me to use the KTM Commuters to arrive Mid valley. I have tried once. It’s really easy. No hassle. But, sometime I prefer to use my own car because my house is not nearby the commuter’s station. Poor me…I’ll make sure to arrive at Mid Valley Megamall earlier to avoid heavy traffic.

Why that Mid Valley Megamall is so special?

There are three of Malaysia’s famous anchors: Metrojaya, Jusco and Carrefour, in the building. You can shop whatever you need for yourself, friends and families.

That’s not enough. Mid Valley Megamall can be your one-stop destination mall, whereby you can have your “preferred activity” here. So, whether you are gym enthusiasts, movie buffs, ardent bowlers, serious readers, IT experts, toy-collectors, home-proud owners, food-lovers, or even fashion dwellers, you can have all you want to do here. If you are familiar with One Utama Shopping Complex at Bandar Utama, you should extend your journey to Mutiara Damansara, which is located next to Bandar Utama. Huh! But you have to be ready with the heavy traffic surrounding this area. Especially during weekend.

Mutiara Damansara…This is one of the prime location in Klang Valley, where several huge buildings, which consists of shopping complexes and cinemas, are located. Watch the New Attraction at Underwater World Langkawi – “The Penguin”

The Underwater World Langkawi, which is located at Cenang Beach (Pantai Cenang, Langkawi), has already been popular as the main attraction at its location (the legendary island, Langkawi Island). The Underwater World Langkawi is a rich treasure trove of marine life and a fascinating window on the aquatic world. This marine showcase includes a freshwater section, a seashell display, a hexagon fish tank, an underwater tunnel, a koi pond, a mini reptile section and an invertebrate exhibit. In addition, there is a coral reef display and a venomous creatures section.

With the new attraction available at the Underwater World Langkawi…Penguin…, I’m sure that there will be more tourists coming in. Apart from fish such as groupers and sharks, green turtles, and other marine life, there is one more attraction available for the tourists, who plan to visit Langkawi Island, particularly to those who plan to stay at Cenang Beach.

What’s the attraction? It’s penguin!!! There are various species of penguin exhibited in various tanks (aquarium) at the new extended area of the Underwater World Langkawi. Among the popular species are the rockhoppers and blackfooted penguins. While the rockhoppers were placed in a tank containing rocks and water with the temperature maintained at 8 degree Celsius, the blackfooted penguins could swim freely in a 20 degree Celsius tank. A 15-metre tunnel has been built specially for visitors to walk through and enjoy a spectacular view of the marine life. You can watch various marine life swim just inches away from you. It’s really exciting! Believe me! The last time I saw penguin “live” was in Singapore back in 1988. It’s almost eight years. I love the see the penguin species because they are very cute…Can I have the penguin as pet? Heheh….

Apart from the various species of penguin, the Under Waterworld Langkawi also offer other new attractions such as the anaconda ( a snake species from the Amazon), the marmoset (world's smallest monkey), arapaima (world's largest freshwater fish), the capybara (world's largest rodent).

The extended wing of the Underwater World Langkawi also offers a 3D cinema for the interested tourist. A special museum was also built to showcase the Malaysian expeditions to Antartica in the new wing. Well, when there is new things and services offered, of course the entrance fee is also being “upgraded”. If I’m not mistaken, the entrance fee was only RM18 per person before the launching of the new wing. But, with the extended wing…more attraction…the new revised entrance fee is RM28 per person. You may choose to go for bird watching in an adventurous way or a more relaxed way…it’s your choice..your decision…whatever it is, both activities promises a wonderful experience…that will last forever…in your memory…trust me…

I haven’t got the opportunity to go for bird watching in an adventurous way…Of course due to some reasons…for example, due to time constraint...whereby every time I go to Langkawi, I only stay for 2-3 days…and there are so many places to visit….especially Kuah, my favourite place to go for shopping…Well, may be in my next visit to Langkawi, I’ll go for bird watching (the adventurous way)…I’m sure there’s so much fun and excitement. You will have the opportunity to feed the eagle, watch the various species of birds available around Langkawi, while enjoying the fresh air and nature….There are many travel packages that offer this bird watching activities. The fees ranges from RM120- RM2500, depends on the activities chosen….There are a half a day trip, day-trip and overnight trip. I’m still searching for the best price…as preparation for my next trip. But, these pictures (as shown in the blog) were taken from my last visit to Langkawi in 2004. The whole family decided to go to Langkawi by ferry. It was really a great time…And, while the ladies busy spending their money at Kuah, I’ll bring my nieces and nephew for a bird-watching at Langkawi Bird Paradise. It’s my first time visit the bird park. I can see the excitement of my nieces and nephews watching the colorful and beautiful birds of different species.

On more than 10,000 square meters, Langkawi Bird Paradise offers a home to various species of birds. The park is adapted to the birds’ natural habitat. Langkawi Bird Paradise is opened daily from 10 am until 6:00 pm.
For the tourists, you don’t have to worry about the weather…because Langkawi Bird Paradise provides a covered walkway to avoid any inconvenience. The walkway covers jungles, ponds and waterfall background as the natural habitats for the birds. Among the popular species are Hornbill, Eagle, Owl, etc. Sorry…I can’t remember their names….
If you feel thirsty or hungry in the middle of the tour, you may buy snacks or tits-bits….and at the end of the tour, you will be headed to the souveniur shops…Whatever it is, Langkawi Bird Paradise is a well worth place to visit. Craft Cultural Complex Langkawi, Malaysia

Lord of the Ring at Langkawi? Take a look at this picture…Believe it or not? It’s real…there’s a giant ring at Langkawi. Where can you find this ring? Kompleks Budaya Kraf Langkawi or Craft Cultural Complex Langkawi. It is actually one of the unique replicas built outside the complex.

The Craft Cultural Complex Langkawi offers a wide variety of Malaysian handicrafts. The handicrafts here are not only for exhibition but also for sale. You can buy handicrafts such as carved silverware, batik products, weaved product from rattan, mengkuang and pandan leaves, songket and silk, etc. produced from different parts of Malaysia.

Since the objective of this complex is to promote Malaysian culture, there is also a section built specially for exhibition. It functions more or less like a museum, which display the variety of cultures available in Malaysia.

The Craft complex is open daily between 9am through 6pm and admission is free.

Mahsuri’s Mausoleum (Makam Mahsuri), the Famous Legendary Place in Langkawi.

Thinking of travelling to Langkawi Island, Malaysia? Don’t forget to visit the Mausoleum of Mahsuri, the most significant place in Langkawi Island, located about 12 kilometres from Kuah Town.

There has been so much difference in term of facilities and architecture of the Mausoleum, since my last visit there in 1996. The place has been upgraded and renovated from time to time to attract more tourists to visit the place. Apart from the “tomb of Mahsuri”, there are several Malay traditional houses built to show the lifestyle of the villagers at the time of Mahsuri.

During my visit to the Mausoleum in December 2004, I had an opportunity to watch a “drama performance on the Legend of Mahsuri” and a traditional malay dance and music performance. I feel really excited to watch the cultural performance, very fresh and energetic. And the drama performance, also very touching…many tourists cry (including me) while watching the drama…especially the ending part, watching the death of innocent lady… Pity Mahsuri, a fair maiden, who was unjustly accused of adultery and was sentenced to death. According the legend, none of the soldiers at that time could kill her with their weapons until she was stabbed with her very own weapon. She bled white blood at her execution as a sign of her innocence. In her dying breath, she placed a curse on Langkawi that this island would not prosper for seven generations.

While watching the very interesting cultural performance shows at that place, I had tasted the various traditional Malay delicacies, such as “kuih karas” and “kuih peneram”…emm…so delicious…fresh from the pan…also bought some stock to bring back to Kuala Lumpur…

If you want to buy some souvenirs, you can visit the kiosks nearby or the gift shop at the Mausoleum. There’s so much things to choose from…and the prices are also reasonable…

Aquarium KLCC ... Let’s experience the ocean life in Kuala Lumpur (Aquaria KLCC)

Where can you experience the ocean life in Kuala Lumpur? Before this, you may have to travel to Langkawi to visit the Underwater World Langkawi…or go for snorkeling at any beautiful islands in Malaysia, such as Pulau Perhentian and Pulau Redang in Terengganu or Pulau Tioman in Johor. But now, you can have that experience here…in Kuala Lumpur… a huge aquarium located at KLCC… It is known as AQUARIA...or " AQUARIUM KLCC ".

Using the Living Ocean concept, Aquarium KLCC will become a new tourist attraction in Kuala Lumpur, especially those who visit the Suria KLCC. Aquarium KLCC houses more than 5,000 freshwater and marine animal exhibits. Even though the concept is similar to the Underwater world Langkawi, what makes Aquarium KLCC so special is its long tunnel, which made out of 90m of fibreglass. Along the tunnel, you can see so many species of fish and marine life swim above your head. You will feel like you are under the sea…snorkeling…without having the oxygen gas…without even have to put the “special clothes”. So, it’s good for those who don’t know how to swim…ha..ha..ha…

Another specialty at Aquarium KLCC is that the place has facilities for the disabled. There are computer screens and multimedia presentations throughout the area to help educate visitors about sea life, as well. Maritime Museum in Melaka….a giant ship in town…

I had an assignment to Melacca last Tuesday…On my way to the Melacca’s town, I saw a giant ship just beside the main road. The ship is similar with the ship I used to see in “Pirate of the Carribean” movie…heheh…but, it’s not a movie set…It is actually a museum.

After I finished my assignment, I had an opportunity to visit the GIANT SHIP, that is the MARITIME MUSEUM in Melacca. The giant ship is used a s a replica to show that many ships used to land in Melacca Strait to do their business.

In other word, Malacca used to be a commercial centre for merchants around the world. If you don’t believe me...you can check in the history book...I was impressed with the unique design and architecture of the ship…It looks like a real ship....

Inside the ship, you can see a lot of historical artifacts being exhibited for viewers. Among my favourite is the treasure box…I wonder what’s inside…heheh…

You can also read many historical stories about commercial activities held in Melacca along time ago. It’s very interesting…I spent around 30 minutes to explore things inside the ship…

Since the Maritime Museum is located in front the Craft Centre, you can visit the craft centre after visited the museum.

At the Craft Centre, you can buy souvenirs, foods, etc. Most of souvenirs here are hand-made. It shows the creativity and art of Melaccan...You can choose from begs, accessories, shirts, pants, etc. For food lovers, you can buy Cencaluk, which is a very popular food in Melacca, and also Belacan (shrimp paste). Others includes tits-bits...snack (keropok, kerepek), dodol daun melaka...

Botanical Garden Putrajaya

Located at the northern section of Precinct 1, Botanical Garden (Taman Botani) Putrajaya is a must place to visit. Among the many attractions available at the Botanical Garden is the Main Building, which consists of an interactive Exhibition, Restaurant and Gift Shop. The Botanical Garden provides facilities such as Explorer's Trail, which make the garden an ideal park to go for jogging or even conducting special events (for example, treasure hunt). Other popular trails in the Botanical Garden include the Heliconea Trail, Pandanus Walk and Canna Walk.

Kuala Perlis...taste the delicious "IKAN BAKAR"

Perlis, the smallest state in Malaysia, has so much attraction from its foods, cultural heritage and also places of interest. Locates in the north part of Malaysia, Perlis is popular as a transit point to Thailand (via Padang Besar) and Langkawi (via Kuala Perlis). Both transits have their own specialty. While Padang Besar is more popular as a “shopping centre” for the shopping lover, Kuala Perlis is famous for its Grilled Fish (Ikan Bakar).

In Perlis, particularly in Kuala Perlis, the Grilled fish (Ikan Bakar) is the most popular meals for both local and foreign visitors. This Ikan Bakar or grilled fish is normally served with special homemade sauce. Apart from the Ikan Bakar (Grilled Fish), other seafood such as crab (ketam), squids (sotong) and prawn (udang) are available for add-on meals. What is so special about the seafood at Kuala Perlis? I really appreciate that moment…Sometimes, I wait at the Kuala Perlis Jetty to buy fresh seafood direct from the fishermen there. The price of seafood at Kuala Perlis Jetty is cheaper as compared to the price at other market in town….So, you can eat more seafood here…because it’s cheaper…

Everytime I visit my family-in-laws, I’m sure to bring them to eat seafood at Kuala Perlis. There are several stalls to choose from….and you have to remember that these stalls are open at night only. No operation in day time….

Usually, before you make any order, you can choose the seafood that you want. What do you want to eat for dinner? Fish, prawn, squid, etc. ..next question…how much do you want (measured by weight), and your chosen cooking style? Fried, grilled, sweet-sour style, etc. Emm..yummy…The cost of your dinner will depends on the weight of the seafood….But, don’t worry..because the price is reasonable…

So, whenever to go to Perlis, don’t forget to taste the delicious Ikan Bakar (Grilled Fish) at Kuala Perlis…

Colmar Tropicale, Bukit Tinggi, Pahang…another hill resort next to Genting Highland.

Colmar Tropicale, located in Bukit Tinggi, Pahang, near the famous hill resort of Genting Highland, is a replica of a collection of buildings from a northeastern village in France dating back to the 16th Century. These buildings form a range of hotels, restaurants and cafe for the tourist to enjoy their trip here. At the centre of the buildings, there is a place (stage), where special events or show will be taken place. The Colmar Tropicale Village is surrounded by lush tropical forest land. The accommodation is an artful combination of old style decor in warm pastel colours matched with modern amenities designed for maximum comfort. There are eight choices of dining outlets serving various specialties. So, you can choose which one do you like...Apart from the restaurants and cafe, there are also several shop that sell souvenior and gift, clothes, accessories, and etc. I love the beautiful landscape scenery and the cool whether here.

There are fountains and park benches in the square for relaxation after a hard day's work browsing in the 17 theme shops, or should one wish to take a breather from participating in the various activities. The drawbridge reminiscent of ancient castles, clock tower with an original cuckoo bird clock, and the viewing tower complements the ambience.

Around that area also...you can visit the wonderful Japanese Tea Garden, the largest Japanese Tea garden in the world, if I’m not mistaken, Rabbit Park and a golf resort. You can take a walk around the garden, it's a good exercise...while exploring the green...cool...tea garden...You can taste the great Japanese tea served by beautiful lady with kimono in the Japanese tea house...

Continue your journey around the garden...till down the hill...then...you will reach a beautiful garden...full of flowers and plants...the plants here is not only for exhibition...but also for sale...Get your favourite plants and flowers here...

Cameron Highlands… the largest and most famous hill resort in Malaysia.

Cameron Highlands is a land of breathtaking scenery with cool lush mountains peaks, waterfalls, tea plantations, terraces of vegetable, fruit and flower gardens. The famous resort is located in the north-western corner of Pahang. Although it is in Pahang, its two main exits go to Tapah and Ipoh, Perak. It used to be very cold up the hill, but nowadays you can make do with just a light sweater. Discovered by a British surveyor, William Cameron in 1885, this highland paradise still retains much of the charm of an English village.

Cameron Highland is made up of several townships, namely Ringlet, Tanah Rata, Brinchang, Kea Farm, Tringkap, Kuala Terla and Kampong Raja. Each of these townhip has its own specialties. For example, Ringlet is one of the agricultural hub, producing vegetables and flowers in Cameron Highland, while Tanah Rata is the place where most chalets and backpackers' accommodation is located.

I think among all the townships, Brinchang and Kea Farm are more popular as compared to the others. This is because most of attractions are located in Brinchang and Kea Farm. These are the places where you can see and buy flowers, other plants and vegetables.

Among the famous attractions here is the tea plantation. After 3 hours driving from Kuala Lumpur, I stopped at Cameron Bharat Tea Plantation. This is the place where you can have a break...taste the various flavour of Cameron Bharat tea with cakes and sandwiches...and you can also buy tea and other souvieniur as gift to your friends and families. Then, you can take a walk around the tea plantation. If you are lucky, you can watch workers pick the tea leaves at the plantation. And it is quite amazing to see how the works of picking tea leaves along the steep hill. It's look like simple, but actually... it is not that simple. The steeper the hill...the harder the work of picking tea leaves...

Langkawi ...there's so much things to explore...

Langkawi is a very popular place to visit. There are so many things you can explore while you spend your holiday at Langkawi. You can choose from shopping, relaxing, island hoping, sunbathing…etc.

To reach Langkawi, you have 2 choices; traveling by ferry from Kuala Perlis, Kuala Kedah or Penang, or by flight from your respective places. If you choose to travel by ferry, your first destination will be the Kuah Jetty at Kuah Town. But, if you choose to travel by flight, you will land at Padang Matsirat, nearby Pantai Chenang.

Once you reach Kuah, you can have your meals at several restaurants there. One of them is Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), or “mamak” restaurants…but I forgot the restaurant’s name…sorry… Since the jetty is linked with Jetty Point, the shopping paradise in the legendary island, you can also do your shopping here…There’s a lot to shop…especially… CHOCOLATE… yum…yum…I like to buy chocolate here because the price is cheaper than Kuala Lumpur…or any other places in Malaysia…So…don’t hurry to buy your stock of chocolate here…erm…I think perfume is also cheap here…Check it out! But, please….don’t over-budget…hehehe…

After finished shopping and dining, walk to front of Jetty Point building, and you will see a giant eagle’s replica. That is EAGLE SQUARE (Dataran Lang), as shown in the above photo. Langkawi offers visitors with so much excitement from its places to its food.

If I want to explain all places of attraction in one entry….hehehe…I’m afraid you will get tired reading a long…long… story about Langkawi. It is better for me stop here…I’ll continue to write more about the treasure island soon. A Day Trip to Bukit Melawati, Kuala Selangor

Where can you find these cute little "creature"? Well... you can find them at Bukit Melawati, which is located at Kuala Selangor. These groups of silverleaf monkeys (dark haired monkeys that have a silver shining on their fur) can be found around the recreational area. The Silverleaf babies have orange fur, as compared to the adult monkeys. They are friendly and always appreciate tourists who give them foods (nuts and bread).

Apart from the Silverleaf monkey, other attraction include the lighthouse and train ride around the recreational park. For those who want to stay a night at Kuala Selangor, Hotel De Palma Inn Kuala Selangor (3-star hotel) might be a perfect choice for you.

Terengganu…My favourite place…why? Popular Malaysian Batik city…Delicious Food…

This is the place where I really love to visit…. TERENGGANU DARUL IMAN….specifically KUALA TERENGGANU (KT)…not because I came from Terengganu….or my family live there…but I love the beautiful…peaceful beach scenery…along the way to KT from Kuantan…The scenery that I couldn’t find anywhere else….heheh…

When you reach Kuala Terengganu, don’t forget to taste the delicious food such as “NASI DAGANG = Special steamed rice + fish curry” and “KEROPOK LEKOR = light fish snack”, together with AIR GELAS BESAR or “jumbo” fresh fruit juice. The popular restaurant for nasi dagang is located near Chendering, the building with peach color paint. My favourite keropok lekor stall is Keropok Lekor 007…nearby a place named “Losong”. Not to forget the “jumbo” fresh fruit juice, you can enjoy it at Seberang Thakir.

Let’s forget about the food for a moment…now let’s focus on the main attraction…here we are….Malaysian Batik…In KT, you can see many entrepreneurs involve in Batik business. Batik pattern has been used to produce not only fabrics…but also accessories and souveniour. You can buy special gifts for your love one at Pasar Kedai Payang (Payang Market). I can spend the whole day there, to see the unique and creative work of our Batik designers. You can buy Batik silk fabrics, scarfs, bags, home decoration, etc. The last time I went there was on November 2005, just before the musim tengkujuh started.

For accommodation, you can choose whether you want to stay near the beach… near the city centre. For those you want to spend their time at beach, I would suggest you to stay at Primula Beach Resort, at Pantai Batu Buruk. For the shoppers, you can stay at Grand Continental..or Yen Tin Mid Town Hotel, which is located nearby the Pasar Payang….I wish I could go to KT again this coming May…hehehe…I want to buy some Batik silk to make my Baju Kurung.

Souq of Putrajaya offer a unique shopping experience…
